Andy spends an entire story trying to decide whether it is less painful to remove a Band-Aid from his cheek by peeling it off quickly or slowly.
2. The Dog Ate It
When Andy's dog, Sooty, eats his homework Andy realises he can't tell this to his teacher because it sounds like a made-up excuse. He realises he has no option but to try to make Sooty vomit it up.
3. A Crazy, Bad, Dumb, Bad, Bad, Dumb, Crazy, Bad Idea
Before the school fete Andy tries out the balloon ride. It seems like quite a good idea, until Danny lets go of the rope and Andy finds himself floating away.
Andy chases after the rubbish truck to try to get his bin collected. Unfortunately, he falls into the bin and is collected along with the rubbish.
Andy has to babysit his two little cousins, who are even crazier than he is.
After Danny swallows Andy's goldfish Andy punches Danny so hard that his head comes off and, as if that's not bad enough, then an army of little Dannys storms out of Danny's neck intent on revenge.
7. Kittens, Puppies and Ponies!
Andy writes a sickeningly sweet story in an attempt to give the school short story competition judges what he thinks they want. When he doesn't win, he angrily rewrites his story so it's full of violence and mayhem.
8. Learn to Read with Andy
This story is written in the style of the learn-to-read primers from the 1960s. But instead of featuring the innocuous action they usually contain (run, run, run, fun, fun, fun) it has Andy jumping on his bed, saying rude words, telling lies and biting his mother.
After a series of unfortunate events Andy and his father both end up naked and locked out of the house. They cover themselves in mud and launch into a commando-style mission through the neighbourhood in an attempt to retrieve a spare key from Andy's father's workplace, but then it starts to rain.
Note: Published in the US as Just Wacky! and retitled and republished in the UK in 2010 as Help! I'm Trapped In My Best Friend's Nose & 8 Other Just Crazy Stories.
